The Flaschenfreunde are many things, but not boring!
Did you know that marathon events and long-distance races are held regularly in our region?
No? Neither did we, until we met our Flaschenfreunde Johannes and Chris.
Both are passionate athletes who should not be missing from the list of participants in any competition.
On May 21, 2022 the 49th GutsMuths-Rennsteig Run through the Thuringian Forest took place. The Rennsteig is a well-known region for glass production – therefore this run was a real “home game” for us.
This was followed by the Crazy Runners Ultratrail on June 18, 2022, which our Flaschenfreund Chris won with a total of 53km and 2000 meters of elevation gain. Johannes was also there and has also achieved a super performance with 30km and 1000 meters of altitude.
Together with Anton, Johannes then participated in the Metropolmarathon in Fürth on June 27, 2022. Anton is blind and was only connected to Johannes by a ribbon. The two ran a total of over 42.20 km in just 4 hours 10 minutes.
On July 2, 2022, Johannes again competed for our Flaschenfreunde team at the 19th Schneekopflauf. From 2022, there will be a new route in addition to the classic route from Schmiedefeld to Schneekopf. This tour turns shortly before the Schneekopf plateau in the direction of Gehlberg and holds another 350 meters in altitude. In total, Johannes covered 22 km and 900 meters of altitude that day.
We are absolutely thrilled with these performances and look forward to more exciting competitions to come this year.
